T&L: Collaboration Online International Learning (COIL) between Faculty of Pharmacy UKM and Department of Pharmacy, San Pedro College Davao

The 1st session of COIL between FoP UKM and DoP SPC focused on clinical pharmacokinetics and medication review. The session was engaging with active participation from students and facilitators. Hopefully, this COIL will be extended for other topics. COIL is a virtual experiences that are embedded into the formal curriculum and provide students with an opportunity to interact with peers at international universities for them to develop intercultural competences and digital skills while working together on specific learning tasks. There are four key elements that define any COIL project: It involves a cross-border collaboration with students from different backgrounds and cultures. Students must engage in some sort of online interaction, either asynchronous or synchronous. It must be driven by a set of internationalised learning outcomes There must be a reflective component. Conference: The ASEAN Pharmacy Distance Learning Symposium

It is my great pleasure to share a new innovation for T&L in the first ASEAN Pharmacy Distance Learning Symposium themed, ‘Challenges and Best Practices’, on 2nd of September 2021. In the current global pandemic, we are faced with extremely challenging times. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our normal routines and standards, including our T&L methods in higher education.  This symposium was aimed to bring together the Faculty of Pharmacy UKM strategic partners from the Southeast Asia region, to build a stronger bond in our academic relations by sharing experiences in dealing with this change.  The symposium featured highly respected speakers representing each participating university, who shared and discussed strategies and approaches taken on managing education in each institution during this pandemic.
