T&L: Collaboration Online International Learning (COIL) between Faculty of Pharmacy UKM and Department of Pharmacy, San Pedro College Davao

The 1st session of COIL between FoP UKM and DoP SPC focused on clinical pharmacokinetics and medication review. The session was engaging with active participation from students and facilitators. Hopefully, this COIL will be extended for other topics. COIL is a virtual experiences that are embedded into the formal curriculum and provide students with an opportunity to interact with peers at international universities for them to develop intercultural competences and digital skills while working together on specific learning tasks. There are four key elements that define any COIL project: It involves a cross-border collaboration with students from different backgrounds and cultures. Students must engage in some sort of online interaction, either asynchronous or synchronous. It must be driven by a set of internationalised learning outcomes There must be a reflective component. Conference: The ASEAN Pharmacy Distance Learning Symposium

It is my great pleasure to share a new innovation for T&L in the first ASEAN Pharmacy Distance Learning Symposium themed, ‘Challenges and Best Practices’, on 2nd of September 2021. In the current global pandemic, we are faced with extremely challenging times. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our normal routines and standards, including our T&L methods in higher education.  This symposium was aimed to bring together the Faculty of Pharmacy UKM strategic partners from the Southeast Asia region, to build a stronger bond in our academic relations by sharing experiences in dealing with this change.  The symposium featured highly respected speakers representing each participating university, who shared and discussed strategies and approaches taken on managing education in each institution during this pandemic. Higher Education: Sharing Session in Schools of Pharmacy in Davao, the Philippines

Time well spend!  It was a great opportunity in Davao City to have several sharing sessions on clinical pharmacy practice at Brokenshire College, San Pedro College and Southern Philippines Medical Center. The main mission was to motivate the future pharmacists on effective delivery and impactful pharmaceutical care.  Thank you to Dr Erwin Faller for the coordinations.

Higher Education: International Sharing Session at University of the Immaculate Conception, Davao, the Philippines

Thank you to University of the Immaculate Conception, Davao for the invitation to deliver series of sharing sessions at the College of Pharmacy and Chemistry. The visiting professorship activities were scheduled between 10th and 17th February 2020. The topics for PhD programme were on Advanced Molecular Pharmacology and Advanced Pharmacotherapy: A Clinical Approach. UIC-CPC in collaboration with the Philippine Pharmacists Association-Davao City Chapter initiated a sharing session on two topics; the Extended Pharmacy Services and Quality Use of Medicine Research and Big Data Opportunities for Pharmacy Practitioners. Hopefully this collaboration will enhanced the academic partnership and pharmacist training between the two institutions and nations, UKM and UIC, Malaysia and the Philippines. In 2016, the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) was introduced in Davos, although part of the 4IR elements has been taking place for at least a decade. 4IR will change the current living arrangement to a next era. Digital technology and artificial intelligent have made it possible to create products and services for a better life. These services include education (Education 4.0). Malaysian Higher Education 4.0 (image source: apkpure.com) In relation to the higher education, the Generation Z (Gen Z, born between 1995 and 2010) and later will be highly affected by Education 4.0. They are growing up in a time so revolutionised by technology. This group of adolescence would be attending universities in the coming years. They have three main wishes: 1. desire of meaningful education to equip them for jobs of the future, 2. strong growth in their careers, 3. dreams to be fulfilled within 10 years of their entering the career. T&L: Immersive Learning at CliPS, UKM

Immersive Learning (IL) places students in an interactive learning environment, either physically or virtually, to replicate possible scenarios or to teach particular skills or techniques. IL includes simulations, role play, and virtual learning environments. Evaluating appropriateness of drug therapy in relation to laboratory results. At the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, we have established the first Clinical Pharmacy Simulation centre (or known as CliPS) in 2009 to enhance IL for our students. To our knowledge this is the first laboratory of its kind in the Asian region. Higher Education: The Malaysian Rethinking and Redesigning of Higher Education Award 2017

The Malaysian Rethinking and Redesigning of Higher Education Award (APRS, or renamed to AKRI) is granted to the best innovations in teaching and learning practice. Immersive Learning in Clinical Pharmacy Practice that is one of the teaching innovations utilised at the Faculty of Pharmacy UKM was granted the 1st Runner Up for the award. This is the second award granted to my portfolio in 2017. Thank you for all the supports and wishes.

Higher Education: Anugerah Akademik Negara ke-11, 2017 (The 11th National Academik Award)

Anugerah Akademik Negara is the highest academic recognition given by the Government of Malaysia in honour of an achievement. I would like to thank the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Faculty of Pharmacy UKM, pharmily of FFar (staffs and students), family and friends for the award, kind support and wishes. The award was granted by the Minister of High Education, Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh on the night of the 3rd November 2017 in a colourful ceremony. Thank you all.
